About
Tanyapruek Boontharaksa (Thai: ธัญพฤกษ์ บุญธรักษา) is a physician by training, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University. Now he is pursuing a master's of science in biomedical engineering under the supervision of Dr Thanarat Chalidabhongse. His research is on medical image segmentation.
Before being accepted to the Faculty of Medicine, he studied in the science-mathematics program at Triamudomsuksa school. During that time, he joined the Physics Olympiad training camp and won a gold medal at the 18th Thailand Physics Olympiad.
After being admitted to medical school, he felt that it did not fit him well, and he explored other directions in his life while studying medicine. He found computer science intriguing and devoted time to learning it seriously.
In the academic year 2022 - 2023, he was on the Board of the Student Union of the Faculty of Medicine as a Head of the IT division and was responsible for overseeing the IT infrastructure of the Student Union, including the web server, the organization's electronic mail, and many internal websites.
Now, his interests in natural sciences have expanded beyond computer science. He wishes to use insights from various fields, such as mathematics, physics, and neuroscience, and apply them to computer science research to foster new research directions.
In his free time, he enjoys reading non-fiction, listening to music, and playing the piano.
